Widespread Thunderstorms and Severe Weather over 14 States Today


The day starts with severe weather over 7 states in the south-central region and moves to the upper Midwest in the evening and overnight hours, while widespread thunderstorms over much of the US today. Here’s today’s forecast.

Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding warnings

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting the possibility of severe thunderstorms over at least 7 states as we begin Monday, including northeastern New Mexico, all across northern and some portions of central Texas, western and southern Oklahoma, extending into the southern half of Arkansas and northern Louisiana.

For the evening and overnight hours, the possibility of severe weather moves north to include much of Kansas and Oklahoma, west-central Arkansas, central and eastern Nebraska, northern Missouri, southeastern corner of South Dakota, throughout Iowa, southern and southeastern Minnesota, throughout much of Wisconsin and northern Michigan.

Flash flood warnings

The NWS has also issued a flash flood warning over portions of northeastern Texas, southern Oklahoma, much of Arkansas, Northwestern Mississippi and the southwestern corner of Tennessee.

Widespread thunderstorms

At least two thirds of the country will see widespread thunderstorms today ranging from parts of the northern Rockies, through the Midwest, into most of the South, parts of the Southeast and mid-Atlantic and into the Northeast.

Much of the northwest, west and southwest will be dry today.

Heat advisories & red flag warnings for June 22

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued heat advisories on Monday for the following areas: southwestern Oregon, northern and central California; south-central and southeastern New Mexico; southwestern, western and extreme western Texas.

Red flag warnings: The NWS has issued red flag warnings for western Colorado, eastern Utah, southeastern New Mexico and western Texas.
