Severe thunderstorms bringing the threat of damaging weather and flooding will span from Colorado to Pennsylvania and New York on Friday, while to the south a flooding threat for southern Texas along the Gulf.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning over severe weather that will span from the eastern half of Colorado in the West, through the northern half of Kansas, southern and southeastern Nebraska, into northern Missouri and most of Iowa, stretching into southern, central and eastern Wisconsin, throughout Michigan, into the northern parts of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and extending into western Pennsylvania and southwestern New York.
The main threats will be damaging winds, including straight-line winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes are possible.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has also issued flash flood warnings for some regions in the areas in the path of today’s heavy rain and severe thunderstorms. Those areas include portions of southern and eastern Iowa, southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, southern Michigan, areas along the northern Indiana and Ohio borders, as well as into northwestern Pennsylvania and southwestern New York.
Separately, in the South, a large area of southern Texas, along the Mexico border and along the Gulf of Mexico, extending into inland areas, are under a flash flood warning.
