Flood Watch, Severe Weather, and Blistering Heat Top Today’s Weather

There is a flash flood watch along the Gulf, severe weather over the upper Midwest, and blistering heat in parts of the West and in Florida. Here’s a look at today’s top weather warnings and your forecast.

Flood watch along the Gulf

There’s a potential for flooding along the Gulf of Mexico affecting three states on Thursday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a triple-threat warning in Texas for the Houston/Galveston area, issuing a flash flood warning, a flood warning, and a flash flood watch.

To the east, the NWS has issued a flash flood watch for portions of southeastern Louisiana and extending into Mississippi along the Gulf and inland.

Severe weather over upper Midwest

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm warning over portions of the upper Midwest including central and northern Nebraska, central and eastern South Dakota, eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota.

Some of the disturbed weather could extend into the northwestern corner of Iowa on the Eastern front, while on the Western front, severe thunderstorms could stretch into parts of eastern Wyoming.

Blistering heat for the West and Florida

In the West, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for Southwest Oregon and Northern California, as well as north-central and south-Central California.

Although the NWS has not issued heat advisories for the southern parts of the West and Southwest, temperatures there will be soaring today. Las Vegas is forecast to reach 108, Palm Springs 109, Phoenix 111, Tucson 110, and El Paso 101.

To the east, the NWS has issued a heat advisory for west-central and southern Florida.
