Flash Flooding Threat for Texas and Louisiana, Thunderstorms across South


Widespread thunderstorms are forecast throughout the South and parts of the Northeast today, bringing a flash flooding threat to portions of eastern Texas and the southern half of Louisiana along the Gulf, while hot in the West.

Today’s US weather Outlook

West: Mostly dry, with scattered thunderstorms over portions of Northeastern California and northern Nevada, as well as over central Colorado. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for portions of the inland areas of northern and central California.

Northwest & Northern Rockies: Rain over the western half of Washington and portions of northwestern Oregon, scattered thunderstorms over southeastern Oregon, central and southwestern Idaho, throughout most of Montana, and northern Wyoming.

Southwest: Hot and dry for most of the Southwest, however, widespread thunderstorms throughout New Mexico, and into extreme western Texas.

Central & Upper Midwest: Thunderstorms over southern and eastern Texas, with flash flood warnings by the NWS around the Gulf near Houston and areas east.

Through the nation’s midsection, expect scattered thunderstorms over the Oklahoma Panhandle, much of Kansas and into southern and central Nebraska, extending northward, over much of Iowa, southern and eastern Minnesota, and throughout Wisconsin.

Ohio Valley: Thunderstorms for Northern Illinois and Indiana and southwestern Michigan, as well as southern Ohio.

South: Widespread thunderstorms throughout the South today, with a flash flood warning by the NWS for southern Louisiana along the Gulf and into the central area of the state.

East: Thunderstorms for portions of West Virginia and southwestern Virginia, as well as into the Northeast spanning from New Jersey to Maine.
